ORGAN CONCERT WITH MARCUS ANDRÉ BERG
WORKS BY LANQUETUIT, BACH, PARKER, GOEDICKE, AND HAKIM
Organ music from different corners of the world
Chief Organist at Oslo Cathedral, Marcus André Berg, presents an exciting program spanning a large geographic area. Berg will perform French Marcel Lanquetuit’s virtuoso Toccata in D major and Bach’s iconic Fugue in D minor, BWV 565b. American Horatio Parker’s Andante from “Sonata in E-Flat Major” showcases American late romanticism at its most beautiful, before we get to hear Russian Alexander Goedicke’s Prelude and Fugue in E-Flat Major. Berg himself presents an improvisation that explores the instrument in the Cathedral in different ways than the other compositions do. The concert concludes with Lebanese Naji Hakim’s Theotokos; a work filled with rhythmic energy.
