FESTIVAL CHURCH SERVICES

In Oslo Cathedral, there will be a Gregorian High Mass with François Couperin’s Messe pour les Couvents on the program. Participating are Consortium Vocale Oslo and cantor Tjark Pinne. The sermon will be given by Bishop Sunniva Gylver, and the liturgist is Cathedral Dean Pål Kristian Balstad.

At the festival church service in Margaretakyrkan, Josef Rheinberger’s Stabat Mater will be performed, alongside works by Mendelssohn and Palestrina. The Nordstrand Church Choir appears under the direction of cantor Øyvind Fossen. Per Anders Håvelsrud serves as organist, with Per Anders Sandgren as presiding priest and Anneli Diskerud Morken as deacon.

During the festival service in Fagerborg Church, Schubert’s Winterreise will be performed in a Norwegian version for choir, piano, and barytone. Contributing are Benjamin Thorsen Isachsen (priest and soloist), Sveinung Bjelland (piano), Bislett vocal ensemble, and Gjermund Brenne (musical direction). The Norwegian translation is by Vetle Røsten Granås.

For the festival service in Holmlia Church, folk singer Tebrizli Mamed Riza from Azerbaijan and musicians from the Middle East will contribute. Holmlia chamber choir under the direction of organist Ådne Svalastog will also contribute.
