MASTER CLASS WITH HANS-OLA ERICSSON
In addition to the concert, Hans-Ola Ericsson holds a master class for selected organ students from the Norwegian Academy of Music, on the new and old organs in the Swedish Church of St Margareta.
Hans-Ola Ericsson is both a composer and a professor, and an outstanding concert organist. Ericsson studied organ in Sweden and Germany, in addition to private tutoring with Olivier Messiaen. His recordings of Messiaen's complete organ works are regarded as ground-breaking, and his releases earned him the Swedish phonogram prize for several years in a row. Ericsson has toured as a concert organist in Europe, the United States, Canada and Japan, and is recognised for his performances of contemporary music. He has collaborated with composers such as John Cage, György Ligeti and Olivier Messiaen. Ericsson is also a skilled interpreter of early music and was project manager of the Övertorneå project, an extensive effort to rebuild the organ in the German Church in Stockholm, which is considered the most important Baroque instrument in Sweden.
