BOYSEN BUS: OUT OF OSLO
VISIT GREATER OSLO'S ORGAN TREASURES WITH OLAV RUNE BASTRUP AND ESPEN MELBØ
The Boysen bus has become a well-known and popular part of the Church Music Festival's programme, now offered for the seventh time. Olav Rune Bastrup, cantor in Grønland Church, takes over as guide, lecturer and organist, in collaboration with the critically acclaimed young organist Espen Melbø. Melbø was cantor in Naunhof near Leipzig for many years and is currently cantor in Tønsberg Cathedral, and teaches organ playing at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Bastrup is, in addition to cantor in Grønland Church, an historian and author with a series of books on historical topics.
The route for 2019 was proposed by Bjørn Boysen shortly before he passed away in February 2018. This time we travel out of downtown Oslo and visit Enebakk, Skedsmo and Strømmen. The organs at Enebakk (Jehmlich 1975) and Skedsmo (Carsten Lund 1981) are excellent instruments that have been somewhat overlooked. The town of Strømmen is in the same direction and in 2019 received a brand new organ from Ryde & Berg. It is definitely worth a visit.
